To Have My Cake and Eat It Too
Yesterday, I hosted a reading of King Lear. It happened to be my birthday, so I wanted to get a cake. But since it was a King Lear reading and not a birthday party, I wanted to get a cake that would be King Lear appropriate. Here’s what I came up with:
Fortunately, my friends have a more traditional sense of birthday practice, and surprised me with a proper birthday cake:
Chocolate cake, vanilla cake, friends, and a King Lear reading: who could ask for a better birthday?

How odd! I was searching for images for my next Pic-tac-toe and it brings me to your blog!!!
I must say, I prefer your cake. And will probably steal the idea for a future celebration…

Wow! I am curious to know what search terms brought you here, but I suppose that would give too much away about your puzzle. I am starting to think the recent surge in traffic is coming from Google Images, but I don’t know why.
Feel free to steal the idea… or should I say, take the cake?

i don’t know what it is, bill, i haven’t any idea. sometimes the stars twirl around and the next thing you know the normally kind and warmhearted nonny nu gets all uppity. i happen to like your cake decoration and, by gum, i hope you drank a gallon of wine with it. any friend of shakespeare is a friend of mine!

Did I just hear Nonny Nu say, “Prodigious birth of love it is to me
That I must love a loathèd enemy.”

I think after seeing his King Lear cake mocked Bill replied, “I must weep, But they are cruel tears.”

Mr. Nonny Nu, thanks for taking the high road. (Context here.)
I don’t remember, but we probably did drink wine.
