Six Degrees of Sir Francis Bacon: John Edwards
First, read the rules of the game.
This week’s challenge is presidential hopeful John Edwards.
I was able to link John Edwards to Sir Francis Bacon in six degrees or fewer, though that shouldn’t stop you from posting a longer response, or looking for a shorter one. Entries will be accepted until midnight on Thursday, November 15.
Good luck!
And congratulations to UnixMan for winning last week’s challenge by linking Dan Aykroyd to Sir Francis Bacon in three degrees:
Dan Aykroyd > Richard Nixon > William Shakespeare > Francis Bacon
Dan Aykroyd appeared on Saturday Night Live impersonating Richard Nixon, who in high school showed a penchant for the writings of William Shakespeare, who is believed by some to be Sir Francis Bacon.

For me, the Nixon-Shakespeare connection has taken some of the fun out of the process.
John Edwards > John Kerry > Richard Nixon > William Shakespeare > Sir Francis Bacon
I don’t see a way to do it in fewer than 4 steps yet. And I could have substituted George W. Bush or Dick Cheney for John Kerry, but I thought that Kerry should win something.

Or, if you want to do it “non-politically”, you can use:
John Edwards > Raleigh > Sir Walter Raleigh > Queen Elizabeth I > Sir Francis Bacon

Welcome, econgator!
Your solution is creative, but according to the rules, would not be acceptable because “Raleigh” is a city and not an individual.
Neel, your solution is acceptable, though there were more fun ways to get four degrees.
Can anyone link them in three? (I haven’t been able to.)

I spent a few hours trying to get a better solution but I can not get any closer.

No, I think Neel has this one. I should have a new challenge posted on Friday.
I’ll try to stay away from Nixon.
