Six Degrees of Sir Francis Bacon: Punxsutawney Phil
First, read the rules of the game. There are some minor clarifying edits to the rules this week.
This week’s challenge will be the world’s most famous groundhog weatherman, Punxsutawney Phil.
I was able to link Punxsutawney Phil to Sir Francis Bacon in six degrees, though that shouldn’t stop you from posting a longer response, or looking for a shorter one. Entries will be accepted until midnight on Thursday, February 8.
Good luck!
And congratulations once again to Lee for winning last week’s challenge by linking Chuck Hagel to Sir Francis Bacon in four degrees:
Chuck Hagel > Ronald Reagan > Richard Nixon > William Shakespeare > Sir Francis Bacon
Chuck Hagel was nominated in 1981 to serve as Deputy Administrator of the Veteran’s Administration by Ronald Reagan, who supported the 1960 presidential candidacy of Richard Nixon, who in high school showed a penchant for the writings of William Shakespeare, who is believed by some to be Sir Francis Bacon.

Alright, I think it took me longer than usual; I am sleep-deprived, but I still own this game . . .
Punxutawney Phil > Bam Margera > Jessica Simpson > Tom Hanks > Shakespeare > Bacon

A good attempt, but unfortunately, I cannot accept this entry under the current rules.
Surprisingly, even though the name “Shakespeare” appears twice in the Tom Hanks Wikipedia entry, there is no direct link. (See Rule 2).

Rules? Who has time for rules?
Punxutawney Phil > Bam Margera > Jessica Simpson > Tom Hanks > Henrik Ibsen > Shakespeare > Bacon
There must be a better way, and, if there is, I shall find it . . .

Okay, that’s good. If there’s a better way, I’d love to see it, though I haven’t been able to find one yet either.
Lee’s done it in six degrees. Can anyone (including Lee) beat it?

Welcome, Mary K!
Nice work on a long-forgotten challenge.
But if people are interested now, thanks to the magic of Twitter, I may decide to bring the feature back!
