Thursday Morning Riddle
On your heart, I’m a vow; in your mind, how thoughts flowed;
How a star moves on stage; or a chicken, the road;
I am Red; I am Blue; I’m an Hourglass Toad;
And a term for your mood when you’re fit to explode.
Who am I?

I just wanted to say I just discovered your blog and I’ve been enjoying reading it this morning. I have a question that maybe you could help with regarding Shakespeare — I bet you get that a lot :-) I have a five year old daughter who enjoys Shakespeare — I’ve been reading her selections from the various plays that I think she would enjoy — like the ghosts in Richard III or the witches in Macbeth, etc. I read a couple lines and then we talk about them. I’d like to find her some books that are more for her age level but don’t dumb it down too much — if that makes sense? She’s very bright — we rotate between Shakespeare selections and Greek mythology every night :-)

Actually, I’d like to know the answer to that as well! I look forward to your response, Shakespeare Teacher!

Welcome, Marie!
Wow, it sounds like you’re really giving your daughter a great introduction to Shakespeare. You and the Shakespeare Geek should compare notes.
Your question falls slightly outside of my area of expertise, but one suggestion I might make would be to introduce her to some of the Victorian authors of children’s literature, people like Charles Dickens, Robert Louis Stevenson, Beatrix Potter, and Lewis Carroll. More here.
Enjoy!
