Our greatest threat is our own shortsightedness. The solution? A new hegemony geared toward more longterm impacts. Our new prez will be a good start.

Well said!
I’m encouraged by what I see as more long-term thinking in the general public, as opposed to even five years ago. It bodes well for the long run.
You’ve been saying that for some time, but I’m really just coming around to it.
And it’s important to remember that, without this shift, the new prez couldn’t happen. Even the Republicans nominated McCain, the most progressive of their candidates.
I guess my own answer to the question would be the damage we’ve done to the environment. We’re starting to move in the right direction, or at least moving more slowly in the wrong direction than we have been. But will it be enough?
