Thursday Morning Riddle
I am more than a bay, but I’m less than a sea;
I’m a musical tone or a trumpet’s decree;
When you’re writing a will, then you gotta be me;
And where sleep is concerned, I’m the best kind to be!
Who am I?

Wow. This took a while. Naturally, line 3 got it for me — great use of th word — though for a while I was trying to make “fit of mind” work everywhere else.
More hints:
Phil Spector built my wall when he was free;
I’m a minor league baller in Tennessee.

I’m lost….and Neel Mehta is too cryptic. Unless he wrote the answer and I just don’t see it.

Nobody has posted the answer yet, though based on his clues, Neel clearly has it.

SOUND is correct. Way to go, Three-In-A-Ro!
Honorable mention to Neel Mehta.

I couldn’t have done it without Neel….thanks!

Okay, Neel gets credit for the assist.

Uh, thanks. Usually, this thing is solved by the time I see it, so in the rare cases it’s not, I’d rather not be the one to end the thread.
That riddle for “yellow” was amazing.

Thanks. I was experimenting with chiasmus at the time, and I think it improved my writing.
Back in the day, the early Conundrums were in the form of a “picnic” puzzle, where the object was not to provide the solution to the puzzle, but to continue the chain of clues. Example here.
Perhaps I will go back to doing that sort of thing.
