About This Page
This page is intended to provide support for groups who want to gather together to do readings of Shakespeare.
There are resource sections for 24 of Shakespeare's plays. Each section contains a play divison for every number of readers from 2 to 12. This division is available as a PDF file that you can print out and distribute in advance, or at the start of the reading.
Each play section also contains links to external resources about the play, in case you want to read up ahead of time. If your group is new to Shakespeare, you might find it helpful to introduce character biographies, or to read scene summaries before each scene. You will find these in the external resources linked from each section.
There are various ways to access these resource sections. You can click on the buttons above to sort the plays by title, genre, or length. You can also select a number of readers to get recommendations about which plays divide well with that number.
The website design is by me (Bill Heller). In order to maintain cohesion with my blog, I used elements from the WordPress stylesheet that I've been using for the past ten years. That stylesheet is called Jakarta, and it was created by Jose Mulia.
The play divisons were also created by me, with the assistance of the invaluable Quincy, a computer program that I designed for this purpose. Quincy's work has been well-tested over the years, and has proven reliable and effective. May you enjoy many fun and memorable readings!
